Order of the Moon
The Order of the Moon are sworn to protect all persons living within the borders of Silverfrost. Each able-bodied citizen must at some point in their lives serve the order, usually from their late teenage years to their late twenties, though some chose to remain in the service longer or enter earlier.
Members of the order must first master survival in the wilderness, and are only given knives to fight and defend themselves with. Next comes bow training, which makes hunting much easier, whether for food or for evil-doers. Only once these are mastered may one begin training with whatever implement they chose to be their main weapon. In the order, many choose swords or hammers, but spears, maces and any other weapon are all acceptable.
Once trained, members of the order are sent in parties to defend the realm. They usually travel in small groups, with a variety of experience. Most voyages are to take approximately a year, in a circuit to each major city in Silverfrost. These parties are sent out every couple of days, to ensure that their are always members of the order in each city. In addition to protecting cities and towns, these parties maintain the web of roads that confuses any southern armies that manage to make their way past Odane. Some members are chosen to train newcomers, and during times of crisis, those who served especially well will be called back in order to help defend the realm.
