Malta was born a commoner in Odane. As a young girl, she wanted to be a knight, but upon joining the order of the moon realized that she had more skill as a smith, and the order was much in need of one. She enjoyed the work, and opted to stay. She is one of the oldest active members of the order, though she is often doubtful of the orders power in an age were few choose to continue serving actively once they are given the option to leave.
